The youngest of King Triton’s daughters and the most defiant, Ariel longs to find out more about the world beyond the sea and, while visiting the surface, falls for the dashing Prince Eric. While mermaids are forbidden to interact with humans, Ariel must follow her heart. ![]() “The Little Mermaid” is the beloved story of Ariel, a beautiful and spirited young mermaid with a thirst for adventure. Competition mode now also supports anywhere from two to four players, leading to fast, fun multiplayer races with a roomful of friends. Some boss encounters see very cool and quite significant changes we won’t spoil here. Certain boss fights have thankfully been tweaked to make it easier to understand how to do damage and avoid cheap deaths, which was a big issue with the original. Time Overs are a thing of the past, letting you explore the massive levels to your heart’s content. Well, the Encore special stages start at this approximate level of challenge, so be prepared for a lot of frustration since you have to search for them again after every attempt. There are a couple of other enhancements worth noting, though. The special stages in the original Mania Mode (which is still in the game) started to get really, really nasty with bomb, pit, and rough terrain placement around stage 5 or so, and with the stages proving very punishing for even small mistakes, getting a full set of Emeralds for the true final boss encounter meant a lot of grinding. ![]() And when you do find them, the special stages start out brutal from the get-go. The fact that they've said that this will now be the standards for the next stories in Sonic, really hypes me for what could come next (HOPEFULLY, fixing all inconsistencies and Tails, Chaos and side character involvements). Also, unless you know the original Sonic Mania stages inside and out, you probably won’t notice many big differences in the levels other than the placement of the special stage rings, which are still a total pain to find. They really meant it with stepping up the plot. If my theories are correct, this plot is incredibly great and better than recent titles (Colors, Gens, LW). I am really loving the continuity between the 2 games, and is something Sonic never had for a long time. This DLC, although for some reason over-hyped when it isn't that all that big (as in a whole new game), did pretty good as a DLC. The plot would actually be the same as the first plot given to Mania, Robotnik has been depressed (in this case, gone), and the HBH has taken his role. We haven't seen the Heavy King throughout the game (as far as ive gone through my playthrough), and assuming the HBH still aren't destroyed, maybe hinting or teasing towards Sonic Mania 2? Iizuka could've changed his mind considering that Mania is currently an incredible success and an overwhelming amount of love is given towards it. The post-credits scene looks pretty special. Could this be Infinite controlling the ruby? Could this mean that we truly are getting the Forces DLC? (i know the steamdb listing is old news, but they due to the reception of Forces, they couldve pulled back the listing). The Phantom Ruby in this DLC had more of a sentient presence than in regular Mania mode (mainly the chase scene in the end). I know you all might say he could be taken to the Modern dimension, but that doesn't make sense as the portal that Classic Sonic went through to the modern dimension was created using BOTH the emeralds and the ruby.Īlso, if the original Phantom Ruby was destroyed, wouldn't this be Infinite's ruby? He disappeared/"glitched" in the ruby instead of dying, and so was his ruby. The question is, where did that portal take Robotnik to? I assume the Ruby has taken itself along with Robotnik. The ending of this DLC points out that there is more to this Phantom Ruby Saga. Might as well add in my input for this DLC, super spoilery stuff for anyone who hasn't played it. ![]()
